Event Organization
During my time at the University of Colorado Boulder, I organized several large scale events including the yearly Cinema Studies Departmental Graduation Ceremony and a student award ceremony called the Virgils. I have also founded and operated a short horror film contest called the 7th Annual for 5 years, the 6th scheduled for this Fall.
The 7th Annual Horror Film Contest started out as a passion project between my friend, Sam Jacobsen, and I. We wanted challenge our friend group of recent film school graduates with a contest. The rules were simple - make a horror film in under 5 minutes and buy into the contest with $5. The $5 was pooled together to create the prize money for Fan Favorite and Scariest Film. 5 years later and the 7th Annual lives on in much the same way. We have now opened it up to the public and submissions have soared each year. The 7th Annual’s audience has grown each year, with 120 audience members last year, and more to come this year. We are always looking to expand and encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to try their hand at making a scary movie. At the 7th Annual, we believe that filmmaking and fear are for everyone.
